The Bewl Water Reservoir is located at Lamberhurst, Kent, www.bewlwater.co.uk. Set within 800 acres of the picturesque Kent and Sussex countryside boasting the largest lake in South East England. The route is mainly off road with lovely views all round the reservoir as you walk through the forested areas and open countryside surrounding the lake.
12.5 Mile Trek
An opportunity to circumnavigate the entire reservoir on foot, a combination of undulating rural wooded trails, quiet country lanes, and lovely views of the lake for most of the route, with some challenging hills for the serious walkers! The course takes approximately 6.5 hours to complete starting from the Bewl Water Cafe, and commences at approximately 9:45 am. Suitable for competent and experienced walkers.
10k Walk
The 10k walk is an out / back route mainly on a flat rural trail, (with just a couple of small hills to overcome) taking you clockwise from the Bewl Water Cafe to just beyond the 3 mile marker past Rosemary Farm, a quarter of the way around the reservoir. The walk commences at approximately 11.00am. Suitable for families and competent walkers.
5k Walk
The 5k walk is an out / back route mainly on a flat rural trail, taking you clockwise from the Bewl Water Cafe to just between the 1 and 2 mile marker to the Bridge, The walk commences at approximately 12.00pm (midday). Suitable for families and competent walkers.
NOTES
Suitable for novice and experienced walkers.
All participants must check-in at the Chartwell Team's Registration/Helpdesk tent prior to their challenge commencing.
Trail walking shoes are required as the course can get muddy.
Warm clothing needed if the weather gets cooler, as some of the route is exposed. And don't forget the sunscreen too!
Medals awarded to all participants.
There will be check points and mile markers around the route so you can see how far you have to complete.
Pack plenty of snacks and water.
The routes will be fully marshalled.
Free to enter if fundraising for The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust - Minimum fundraising target £50.
£20 Registration fee for non-fundraisers or those who would like to fundraise for their own charity.
Under 12's register for free - Fundraising optional.
Under 18's require parental consent and supervision around the route.
Pre-book your car parking in advance for the day at the reduced price of £4, per car, normally £7.
All participants must register to take part.
Fundraisers for The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust, who raise over £500, will earn a well-deserved place at our exclusive charity black-tie event at the House of Commons! Enjoy fine dining and the opportunity to join us on the famous balcony overlooking the Thames! Raise over £750 and you can bring a guest!
Bewl Water is on the Kent/Sussex border near Lamberhurst, just off the A21. The postcode is TN3 8JH.
When approaching from the north, follow signs to Bewl Water and turn off the A21 onto Bewlbridge Lane.
When approaching from the south, go past Flimwell and follow signs to Bewl Water, turning off the A21 onto Bewlbridge Lane.
Follow Bewlbridge Lane for approximately 800 metres before turning left into the Bewl Water entrance. Car parks are signposted.
